Punk Baby!

Ok I'm a little obsessed with this skirt pattern. Here is another ruffled skirt. I don't have a baby to model this one :(

I made it for my friend. I got a 1/2 yard of the black and white punk rock fabric at Joann's it has sculls and cross bones but a splash of pink so it's girly in a funky way!

This is where I found this pattern.

Happy 4th of July!!

Location: Chickfila Activity: Reading blogs while the kids play Idea: Make the girls 4th of July skirts Date: July 3rd!! I don't know about you, but a trip to Chickfila has nothing to do about fast food when my children are involved, it has the same length as a 5 course meal but much less table time. We go almost every Tuesday for family night because this place pulls out ALL the stops! Free food, balloon creatures, face painting, color station and I have yet to mention the usual play area...frankly it's a little much, perhaps they are over compensating because they give books in their kids
meals. But that's a whole different blog. So as my kids where enjoying circus d'Chickfila I was blog hoping looks for ideas and that's when I saw the cutest 4th of July skirts and as I slipped my Coke Zero I gave my self a pep talk that I could stop at the store, wash the fabric, and assemble 2 skirts full of ruffles before dawn. Starting around 10pm I finished at an undisclosed time. Dark circles under my eyes where worth how excited they where to see the completed project. There was no pattern so I'm going to make these again. I cut my skirt pieces larger so the front with the ruffles ended up smaller than the sample. And next time I make these it will not be in the middle of the night. During this project I was reminded of why I had to once implement the no ruffles after midnight rule!

Summer Jammies

My kids have 42 pairs of pjs....so what's 43! I picked up this flannel at Joanne's. I know you're saying, "flannel in the summer?" I know I can't help it, it's so much easier to work with than knit (IMO) plus my kids want nightgowns so built in A/C! Everyone wins!

Mommy I'm Cold!

I don't know about you but I'm always hearing, "Mommy I'm cold!" especially when we are at a restaurant. In Florida the a/c is always pumping inside and it's hot outside and freezing inside! This always causing the complaint department to work overtime while waiting for our food to arrive. So to stop this pre-meal madness I decided to make a poncho to keep my little one warm and toasty. I started this Lion Brand free pattern a VERY VERY long time ago. Just like so many things started got distracted and on one rainy day picked this back up. By the time I picked this project back up the pattern was missing so I kind of winged it for the last round and probably finished it a few rounds shy of the actual pattern by hey, it got the job done!

Welcome

I'm back baby!! Due to inclement weather a few weekends back I was forced to organize my sewing room. This room has been collecting dust for sadly almost a year; work, home construction, and my obsession with riding horses had all pulled me away from my sewing machine. Now reunited and it feels so good!! Once in my craft sanctuary I picked up and completed several random projects from yesteryear...ok that might be a hair dramatic. Although one project slated for my older daughter had to go to my younger daughter due to size. Thank goodness (for once) either of my said daughters can read. I hope you follow this blog as I share what I love to make and may this blog give me motivation to keep the dust off my cherished sewing machine. Amen
